School Starts Style

School started this week and my little princess has been so excited to get back and see her teachers and friends.  I have been excited for a routine to set in so I can get back to posting on this site!
This was her hair for her first day back and it was a simple, yet darling style:
Begin by creating an off-centered part at the front of the hair.  Create a section on both sides going from the part down to the ears and secure each with an elastic.
Now create a Regular 3-Strand Braid out of those two small ponytails and have your princess hold onto each once they are done.  Divide the rest of the hair into two areas by creating a part directly down the center.  Begin with the left half and gather it all together into a ponytail - making sure to bring across the right side braid and include that into the ponytail as well.
Do the same with the right side, remembering to bring across that left braid and add it in.  Comb out any remaining braid on each side.  You should now have two ponytails.  Create another Regular 3-Strand Braid out of each.
Bring the bottom of one of your braids up to the last elastic and create a puppy dog ear by securing it up with a new elastic.   Puff out any excess hair over the elastic.  Do the same thing with your other braid and you're all done!

Hi everyone,
We will be taking a 3 week vacation to finish out our summer break before the kids head back to school.  This means that we will also be taking a short break from hairstyles.  :(  As soon as we get back we will resume our posts and tutorials.  Thanks so much for your patience and have a wonderful end to your summer as well!
Sincerely,

Friday's Film: Inside Out Bun Revisited

So I was watching the video from last Friday of our Inside Out Bun.  You can find that original post here.  I realized that there is a much easier way to accomplish the same desired look.  Here's a video that will same you some time on your Inside Out Bun:
See, now wasn't that much easier?!
Here's a pictures of our new Inside Out Bun and you can see that it looks just like the first.
I will always take the easier edition if it looks just as good!  :)

Mohawks

This is not really a "princess" hairstyle but my two oldest boys were so excited about their new Mohawks that they wanted me to post about it on the blog.  :)
They were both in desperate need of a haircut and I told them they could choose how they wanted it until school started.
They both chose a Mohawk hairstyle and I agreed just because I know I have the power to change it back before school.
I first used a rat-tail comb and sectioned out the Mohawk area and then I used TONS of gel and shaped it how I wanted it to look.
Then I just grabbed the shaver with a #3 attachment on it and went to work shaving the sides.
The younger one pictured here decide that it was too high maintenance of a hairstyle for him so he now just has a short buzz but my other son absolutely LOVES his Mohawk.  We ended up eventually shaving the back part off so that just the top was spiky because the back was always getting mashed in the car anyway.  It looks much better now.  :)
Boys will be boys!

Dutch Crown

I was on Pinterest recently and came across this amazing hairstyle.  We are calling it the Dutch Crown and the picture is below.
You can find the original link here which will give you a much larger view of the picture and instructions.
This is our attempt at the hairstyle and I really like how it turned out.
The length of my princess's hair had it her braid ending directly above her right ear and it turned out nicely.
By starting the Dutch Braid down at the bottom, it wrapped around the head more evenly.
A very simple and beautiful hairstyle!

Friday's Film: Inside Out Bun

Today's video is something a little new.  I decided to introduce myself to you and let my princess speak a little bit because sometimes the videos get a little redundant and it's nice to see the face behind the styles.  :)
This hairstyle is called "Inside Out Bun" and it's basically one bun inside another.  The center bun is created using a bun mold and the outer bun is creating using Barrel Rolls.
It's fairly simple but you do want to be sure that you're working with wet hair because that will make all the difference!'
Here's a picture of the finished product.
The Barrel Rolls around the outside can be made as small or as large as you like.
Make sure you have plenty of bobby pins handy to secure all your pieces.
You can see that the bun also resembles a flower a bit.
It was fun introducing ourselves to you and we hope that you continue to enjoy our posts and our videos.  :)
