Lucky Clover

I'm realizing that I didn't really get a great angle of the actual clover itself, but it's a 4-leaf-clover with a Barrel Roll Bun in the middle.
Begin by making 4 equal sections in the hair by parting directly down the middle and then again across the head.  Secure each section with an elastic.  On the top two section you're going to want to make an Inverted Pull-Through and the bottom two sections will be regular Pull-Throughs.

Separate each Pull-Through into two pieces and make each piece a Corkscrew.  Pull on Corkscrew to the left and one to the right just above the Pull-Through and then have them meet together again in the middle of the head.
Use a claw clip to hold that in place while you do the same steps with the other 3 Pull-Throughs.  Once all 4 leaves of the clover have been created you can secure the Corkscrews all together in the middle with an elastic.
We have gone ahead and brushed out some of the Corkscrews and left some of them in tact for our Barrel Roll.  Barrel Roll the hair in the middle down and secure it with bobby pins.  Add a ribbon or hair clip over the Barrel Roll.
If time had not been such an issue this morning we would have laced each leaf with green ribbon which adds nice color but also helps to hold the leaves in their shape.  You may need to add some bobby pins here and there to help hold the shape of your leaves if you choose not to use ribbon.
Hope you all had a great St. Patrick's Day!

X's & O's

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!  This is our final post for the Valentine's hairstyles and it's a fun one.  Today is all about hugs and kisses so this is our "X's & O's" style.

Start with a small section up front where you will create a Pull-Through that goes off to the right side.  Part the rest of the hair right down the middle and clip the left side out of the way for a minute.  Pull all of the hair on the right side of the part into a ponytail.  (Make sure to include your Pull-Through from the front.)
Grab a bun mold and pull it over the ponytail.  (Bun molds can be found at Sally Beauty Supply or can be made by cutting the toe out of a sock and rolling it over itself.)  Once your mold is in place you will spread the ponytail evenly around it and then slip another elastic over the hair and the mold to hold it in place.
Divide the excess hair from the bun into two sections and create a braid out of each.  Wrap the braids around the base of the bun and bobby pin them into place.  Now your "O" is finished.
Move over to the left side and part the hair evenly down the middle of the section and then again evenly across the section so that you now have 4 squares.  Leave the top-right square alone and clip the other 3 squares into their own temporary clip to keep them out of the way.
Begin a Dutch Braid in the top-right square and have it curve down into the inside corner.  Gather all the hair from that square and then plate the braid again 3 times without adding in new hair.  Unclip the bottom-left square and finish up your Dutch Braid.  Braid all the way to the end of the hair and secure it with an elastic.
Now move up to the top-left square and Dutch Braid that until all the hair has been gathered.  Plate it 3 more times OVER the previous braid.  Now unclip your last bottom-right square and finish up your Dutch Braid.    Braid all the way to the end of the hair and secure it with an elastic.
Now fold both of the long braids up on top of themselves and secure with another elastic.  Let the ends of the hair just flip over naturally and add some ribbons to finish your "X" off.
Add a ribbon to the "O" as well and you're all done!

Sweethearts & Valentine Clips

I've got a few more Valentine hairstyles to post so I'll make sure to get them all on by Monday!
Start this hairstyle by sectioning off two squares on the top of the head.
You'll want to make sure they are parallel.
Now you are going to make two small hearts.  (Click here if you're unsure how to do this.)
Pull the rest of the hair back into a low ponytail and divide that ponytail into two pieces.  Twist both pieces and then wrap them around each other (in no particular order) and secure them with an elastic.  We've left a few loose ends hanging out on ours.  Tie a ribbon around your bun to finish it off.

Here are some of our Valentine Hair Clips if you would like some ideas:
(I always make 2 of each so I can use them with any hairstyle.)
These are our hearts.
Here is Cupid, a Valentine Flower, a couple Korkers, a Love Letter with a Heart and a Love Letter with a Rose.

Double Layered Bun

Here's a really pretty hairstyle that needs to be done with wet hair.
Start by pulling all of the hair back into a ponytail.
Separate a section of your ponytail and puff it up about 1/2 inch and then fold it down in front of the elastic and secure it with bobby pins in an "X" formation.
Take the excess hair from that section and wrap it flatly,  in a circular motion, on top of the head - being sure to add bobby pins as often as needed to hold the hair down.
Continue separating sections from the ponytail and continuing these same steps.
When you're all finished, spray it with hairspray for hold.
Add some fun hair accessories and it's all complete.  We've added some little bows glued to the ends of hair pins that we just tucked right into the different layers of the bun.

Glitter Glam

My princess has an annual Winterfest dance performance and it's usually a fun time for the girls to wear their costumes and get fancy.
My daughter loves having glitter in her hair so we planned on it with this hairstyle.
We started with a small Pull-Through at the front which we do quite often because it's quick and easy and it adds a little more flair.
Next we pulled up half of the hair, from ear to ear, into a ponytail.  Slide a bun mold over your ponytail.  (I just noticed that Walmart is now carrying bun molds in their hair supply isle.)
Spread the ponytail evenly over the bun mold and then secure it with an elastic around the mold.  Comb the excess hair from the bun down to the back with the remaining hair.
Go ahead and curl all of the hair that is still down.  We've curled hers with a 1-inch flat iron because it creates nice loose curls.
Our final step was to spray in some glitter.  You can find spray glitter in the can in the craft section at most stores.  (This picture doesn't do it justice but it looks so pretty in the hair!)

Scribbling

I apologize for not posting in the past few days.  I've only had my laptop and all of our hairstyles are on the home computer.  I'm back now though so let the posting resume.  :)
This hairstyle is called "Scribbling" because there is really no rhyme or reason to it and it kind of looks like the lines my toddler draws all over his paper.
You will want the hair to be pretty wet while you do this hairstyle.  Begin by making a large circular part around the head so that about 2 inches of hair is left our all along the perimeter of the head.  Pull the rest of the hair in the middle up into a tight ponytail.
Now separate that hair around the perimeter into 10 equal section, being sure to place one section in the middle at the top and bottom of the head.  Secure each section with and elastic and create a Pull-Through.
Start with the Pull-Throughs on the top of the head and divide them into two pieces.  Twist each piece up and pull it down to one of the bottom Pull-Throughs and add it in with a small elastic.
Do this for each of the 5 Pull-Through on the top half of the head.  You do not need to have any pattern with how or where you attach your pieces as long as they are somehow going across the head and being added into another Pull-Through with an elastic.
These ones here are going every which way and create the look of "Scribbling".
When you have finished with the top half, move down to the bottom Pull-Throughs and simply twist them up and add them into the center ponytail.  You can make your ponytail into a Ballerina Bun, a Messy Bun, or a large Barrel Roll Bun like we've done here.

Turkey Time!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  My daughter was building turkeys out of pipe cleaners for our napkin rings for dinner and we decided to try a turkey in her hair.  As I was getting ready to upload the pictures I saw this one over at Babes in Hairland.  It's almost exactly the same turkey was too funny!  I like how hers has braids though.
We started by pulling some hair from the top half of the head back into a small elastic and creating an Odango Bun.  The are simply made by twisting a section of hair tightly and then wrapping it around itself until the bun starts to grow tall.
Now Pull the rest of the hair up into a ponytail and create a bun using a bun mold.  Braid the excess hair and wrap it around the mold and then secure it with bobby pins.
I also bobby pinned the Odango Bun to the bun mold so that it looks like a head on top of a body.
Choose as many different colors of pipe cleaners as you like and cut them in half for the feathers.  Also cut some yellow or orange for the legs and beak.
Spread them out above the head and body and just poke the ends of the pipe cleaners into the head and they will hold.  We hope you all have a great Thanksgiving from our family to yours!

With a Side of Braids

Who needs a side of fries when you can have a side of braids right!?
Begin with the hair wet and pull it all over into a side ponytail.
Now grab your Topsy Tail and create and Inverted Pull-Through.
Separate the Inverted Pull-Through into 3 sections and create a regular 3-Strand Braid out of each.
Secure each braid with an elastic at the bottom.  Now gather each of the bottom elastics together and pull them up underneath the top elastic and combine them in by pulling one final elastic around all three braids.
You can either leave it the way it is now or grab some product and shape the wispy ends into curls or spikes.
Add a bow on top and you're finished!
